Day 53... the damage report.

WELL... vacation. Vacation tacked 2 pounds onto my already-voluptuous frame. It's a good thing Dr. Hempel finds me so hot or I'd be in some hot water, know what I'm sayin'?? UGH!

There is a bright side to getting fat and out of shape again... Really! I'm not even kidding! I went to the gym today, for a real "gym" workout (meaning I've been stretching myself in other ways that are outside of the gym) and it kicked my BUTT. I was all... straining for breath... covered in sweat.... stinky.... wanting to die... but it was good- truly, it was!

Here's the deal: when I don't work out in a way I can measure and feel proud of, my self esteem tanks. And I become painfully aware of my shortcomings. And my shame takes away all of the "shiny good feelings" of accomplishment and all I can think about is the fact that I didn't make it to the gym. However, when I DO work out, I feel like a champion. I feel healthier, happier, and thinner from the inside out. It's a good thing!

There's a wonderful saying that I created some time ago. I should have it copyrighted:

"Exercise is like sex- you're not always in the mood but you never regret it when it's over."

(my husband is now officially going to kill me.)

Amy~ if that statement is True, he should be proud...I'm sure that there are women out there who can't say that they NEVER regret it. Just Sayin! I heard a statement once that said; "I can't believe I took my clothes off for that." See, so there is a flip side to every coin;)

TOTALLY AGREE WITH AY !!! I HAVE SAID THAT MANY TIMES !!!!! REALLY TONIGHT YOU WANT TO?, THAN IT'S LIKE YES !
Just came back from a training 1 night in Bend but of course dinner with co workers from other offices and a drink or two than lunch on the road - glad it was just 1 night and 2 days. When it's a week it's really bad !!! So keep motivating us and we will keep trying....

You really need to copyright that saying because it is completly true!!!!! I can just see it on bumper stickers, little wall plaques, kitchen magnets....ok maybe not the magnets, but definately stationary to give to a bride to be at the bachlorette party!

I agree! About the exercise anyway! Last week I had a day where we got out and participated in some form of exercise three times and it was fabulous! Today we have hit two times….wonder if we could do a family bike ride tonight? But either way I have been lifting weights again and it feels fantasticly fantastic! I LOVE It!
