WHO are YOU? original post 10/18/08

Anyone else remember this Oprah episode?

I do. I believe it was one of those Dr. Oz episodes (aren't those great??) and they were talking about diet & lifestyle changes. They did one of their "surprise attacks" to the home of the lady in the pictures & when they first went to see her she (obviously) looked like the picture on the left. I totally identified with her. Except I remember she only drank diet soda. (I was a regular soda drinker...) And she would only drink her diet soda with a straw as not to stain her teeth. She ate Reuben sandwiches, like, everyday for breakfast or something. It's been a while since I watched the episode. Then... like the heroes they are... Dr. Oz & his Dr. friend showed up at her home, pulled her off of the couch, and purged her kitchen of all of the bad things she was eating. And after something like eight weeks, she came on the Oprah set looking like the picture on the right.

I was stunned. I was so amazed at how someone could look so out of shape & unhappy then to become so healthy, beautiful, and vibrant. After the show, I went on to Oprah's website & ripped the pictures (sorry, Oprah!). Then I created a printout that had the before & after images with a notation in between the pics that said "WHO ARE YOU?" and I posted it behind my elliptical machine. For more then a year. And I kept the same crappy lifestyle. BUT I didn't take it down. So today I can answer that question- who am I? Well... I'm not a soda drinker. And I don't sit around & watch TV 'cause I'm too tired to do anything else. And I certainly don't eat Reuben sandwiches or anything closely related! I don't eat fast food. I'm not perfect but I'm better then I was & am striving to be the best I can be. I exercise AND I eat healthy foods AND I even read books. (another new habit I am forming.)

I am a work in progress.

Now~ WHO are YOU?? or maybe the nicer way of asking would be "WHO are YOU becoming?" : )

Amazing before and after photo of that woman. Can't believe it's even the same person. I hope to have one of those pictures one day.
